Daily Schedule:

Students enter the building starting at 7:15 - 7th graders will either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or to the gym.

The Math classes use Common Core Standards to guide our lessons.  These include:

The Number System:  compare, order, and compute with fractions, decimals, integers, and order of operations  

Ratios and Proportional Relationships:  use proportional relationships to solve real-world mathematical problems

Expressions and Equations:  write algebraic expressions and solve multi-step equations and inequalities 

Statistics and Probability:  use random sampling to draw inferences about a population;  mean, median, mode, range, outliers; determine the probability of events

Geometry:  solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measures, area, surface and volume.  


 
Class room supplies: 3 or 5 subject spiral notebook, loose-leaf paper, multi-colored highlighters, pencils, positive attitude, and strong work ethic are needed to be successful this year.
 

On-line math practice at home: refer to the following websites for online practice at home - IXL math, XP online math games, Khan Academy, and Go.hrw.com (from the math textbook)

Major Reward - September 29th, December 20th, March 16th, and May 18th
Mini Reward - October 27th, November 21st, January 26th, February 23rd, and April 20th
 
 
Progress Reports:  September 19th, October 10th; November 21st, December 15th; February 14th, March 7th; April 27th, May 18th.  
Report Cards:  November 2nd, January 26th, April 12th, June 8th. 
** This year, parents will drop in and pick up the first and third report cards report cards on November 2nd and April 12th between the hours of 2:40 and 5:30 PM.
 
 
 
7th Grade Field Trips
The 7th grade teachers have planned several exciting field trips to enhance your child's education.  We will be traveling to Historic Charleston, SC, on March 26 - 28, 2018.  $100 non-refundable deposit is due October 24th.  $85 deposits are due November 20th, December 18th, January 3rd, and the final payment of $85 is due February 6th.
On Tuesday, November 21st, the 7th grade will travel to AMC movie theater in Hickory to see the movie adaptation of Wonder, a heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.  The cost of the trip is $10.  We will eat lunch at the food court at Valley Hills Mall and then return to school.  Lunch can be ordered from the cafeteria and made available at the mall food court
 
 
Tutoring Schedule:  Tuesday 2:45  -  3:45
EOG testing dates:  EOG testing dates will be posted as soon as they are available; if you're available to proctor, please contact our guidance counselor, Mr. Allen.
