Friday Face-To-Face Opportunity for Students

Attention Red Devil Family!

Newton-Conover Middle School would like to inform you that beginning Friday, February 26th, we will be offering an additional half-day of face-to-face instruction for students. A and B cohort students will attend Fridays on an alternating schedule outlined below.

Feb. 26th- A Friday
March 5th- B Friday
March 19th- A Friday
March 26th- B Friday

April 16th- A Friday
April 23rd- B Friday
April 30th- A Friday
May 7th - B Friday

Friday school will start at normal time, 7:40 am, and will dismiss at 11:15 am. Buses will run their normal routes and students will need to be at their stops at the regular time. Car riders may begin entering the building at 7:10 am. Students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast once they arrive on campus and will also have the choice to take a bagged lunch home with them as they dismiss. Car riders should be picked up by 11:30 am.

During class on Fridays, teachers will prioritize instructional time to address skill deficits, Standard Course of Study objectives, and give students opportunities to receive support on missing assignments. Attendance will be taken and all students are encouraged to be at school on each of their assigned cohort Fridays. If you choose to not send your child to school on Fridays, students will still be expected to complete all tasks assigned by their teachers.

C-cohort students and those students who are at home on Fridays will continue to have the opportunity to Zoom with teachers. Please check each teacher’s Canvas page and your child’s email for communication about the revised Friday schedule.

If your child has received a Danger of Retention Letter at any point this school year, it is highly recommended that every effort is made to have your child at school each and every day that they are scheduled to attend. Your child’s attendance at school and completion of assignments are critical to their academic progress, success, and growth.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher or reach out to the office of Newton-Conover Middle School at 828-464-4221.
