Good afternoon Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of May 3 through May 7.
This upcoming week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We encourage students to tell their teachers, administrators, and any school employee how much they appreciate the job they are doing.
Progress reports will go home this week. This is the last progress report of the year. Students are encouraged to work as hard as possible and do the best job they can in the last few weeks of the school year.
The EOG testing window will begin on May 24, 2021. There have been some changes made to how we will administer the tests this year. Students will ONLY come to school on the dates that they are scheduled to take an EOG assessment. EOG assessments are required by the NC Department of Instruction for all face-to-face and remote students. Remote students will have to physically come to school to take EOGs. Assessments cannot be administered remotely. Students that do not take the required End of Grade tests could be in danger of being retained. Once students finish their tests, they are finished for the year and do not have to report to school on the days they are not scheduled to test.
Please mark your calendar. Sixth grade will test on May 25th and May 26th. Seventh grade will test on May 24th and May 25th. Eighth grade will test on May 24th, May 26th, and May 27th.
Newton-Conover City Schools will offer Summer Learning this year for students in grades K-12. Parents will be notified if their student qualifies for the program. Students that are failing 2 or more classes and in danger of being retained will strongly be encouraged to attend in order to promote. There will also be an opportunity for students to attend that are passing but maybe need additional practice and support on specific skill deficits. Please contact your child's teacher or the main office if you have any questions.
We hope everyone has a wonderful week!
