Good afternoon Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of August 17th through August 21st.
Students, we want to welcome you to the start of the 2020-2021 school year. We know things will look very different this year but creating a positive and safe learning environment for all of our students still remains our number one goal.
Just a reminder, school begins at 7:40 am and dismisses at 2:50 pm. Students may begin being dropped off at car riders at 7:10 am. Do not drop your student off before 7:10 am as there will not be supervision available from the school. This year, there will be 4 car rider drop off stations at the front of the building. We ask that parents pull up to a station before letting your child out of the car. Students will have their temperature checked before exiting their vehicles. Students that have a temperature of 100.4 or higher or are demonstrating any of the symptoms related to COVID-19 will be asked to stay home. All students must wear a mask while on campus. Any student that gets sick during the school day must be picked up immediately.
Students, if you are part of the A cohort you will start school on August 17th. The B cohort will start school on August 19th. Remote Online only students will start school on August 21st. If your student is signed up for Remote Online Only for the 2020-2021 school year, the student and one parent must come to the building on August 21st between 8 am and 3 pm to pick up student devices. This will give you and your student a chance to obtain information specific to remote online learning.
Just a reminder, all parents must have PowerSchool Enrollment (formerly known as InfoSnap) filled out and complete for each of your children before they will be given a school-owned device for the 2020-2021 school year. In addition to having PowerSchool Enrollment complete, you must have returned any devices, cases, chargers, and paid off your child's lunch debt from the 2019-2020 school year.
Students will receive a copy of their schedule on the first day of school for their assigned cohort. Homeroom teachers are expected to make contact with parents/guardians. Once COVID restrictions allow us to safely have an Open House we will schedule a time for parents to physically come into the building to meet their child's teachers. In the meantime, the staff has posted videos introducing themselves and what they teach on our school webpage under the staff directory link.
Please be aware that buses will be a little slower in getting to stops the first week or two of school. If you ride the bus, please be at your stop early. Most buses will begin picking students up by 6:30 am. Keep in mind, NCMS busing information comes from the district office. NCMS shares buses and drivers with the elementary schools in the district. This year, the district was divided into multiple zones which may create delays in getting to stops the first couple of weeks as drivers get acclimated to the newly divided zones and alternating cohort days. Bus drivers may attempt to call you if there is an issue with their routes.
