Weekly Announcements December 2nd through December 6th

Good afternoon Red Devil family.

We hope that everyone has enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break.

As students come back to school, please be aware that we have only 3 more weeks left of the grading quarter. Progress reports will go home on December 6th. If you have any questions regarding your child's progress, please contact your child's teacher.

Student Council will be sponsoring a canned food drive that will run from December 2nd through December 13th. All donations will go to supporting the Corner Table located in downtown Newton.

Our Fall book fair begins this week. Students will have an opportunity to preview and purchase books all week.

If there are any parents or community organizations that would like to sponsor a child and assist in paying off student lunch debt, please contact the office. We welcome and appreciate any support that you can give.

Thank you to everyone that ordered and participated in our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. The money raised will go to help purchase school supplies and pay school balances.

Winter sports begin this week. Basketball will be home on December 3rd and December 5th. Wrestling will be away this week. All games and matches will begin at 4 pm.

Weekly Announcement November 25th through November 29th

Good afternoon Red Devil family. We hope that you are having a wonderful day.

Here are our announcements for the week of November 25th through November 29th.

Krispy Kreme doughnut orders will be available to pick up on Monday and Tuesday from 8 am until 3:30 pm at the front office.

Just a reminder that there will be no school on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

NCMS will host a Book Fair on December 2nd through December 6th.

NCMS student council will hold a canned food drive from December 2nd through December 13th. All food collected will go to supporting the Corner Table in Newton.

Weekly Announcement for November 18th-22nd

Good evening Red Devil family.

Here are your announcements for the week of November 18th through November 22nd.

Parents, just a reminder that progress reports went out this past Friday. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, please contact your child's teacher.

Krispy Kreme order forms and money is due on November 18th. Orders may be picked up on November 25th and November 26th at NCMS.

N-CMS is in need of donations of Air Heads, suckers, small prizes, etc. that will be given to students to celebrate positive behaviors as well as birthdays. You can send these items to school with your child or drop them off in our front office.

If there are any parents or community businesses that would like to sponsor meals for our staff, please contact Ms. Vickers to make arrangements.

Any parent that would like to celebrate a birthday or do a shout out by painting our Spirit Rock may do so by contacting our front office for details.

Weekly Announcement November 11th-15th

Good afternoon Red Devil family.

Here are our announcements for the week of November 11th through the 15th.

There is no school on Monday, November 11th in observance of Veteran's day. To our men and women in uniform, past, present, and future, thank you for your service to our country.

Progress reports will go home on Friday, November 15th. Parents, if you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, please contact your child's teacher.

Krispy Kreme fundraiser information went home this past week. The deadline to turn in orders and money is November 18th. Doughnuts will be available to pick up on November 25th and 26th.

Weekly Announcement November 4-8

Good afternoon Red Devil Family.

Here are your announcements for November 4 through the 8th.

We would like to congratulate the boy's soccer team for being named co-conference champions. These young men did an excellent job this season on the pitch as well in the classroom. We are very proud of their hard work and for never giving up.

Congratulations to all our students who made one of our winter sports teams. We look forward to seeing you compete this upcoming season.

Congratulations to Charisma Amaro, Kaylee Hines, and Peter Simpson who auditioned this past week with over 200 students from Catawba County and were selected for All-County Band.

NCMS will be participating in a Krispy Kreme fundraiser to help raise money for our school. Order forms will be going home with students. Order forms and money are due by November 18th.

Weekly Announcements for October 28th- November 1st

Good afternoon Red Devil Family.

Here are our announcements for the week of October 28th through November 1st.

We want to start off by congratulating our football team. The team finished the season undefeated and were conference champions. This is a huge accomplishment for our students and coaches.

Shout out to all the parents, students, and coaches that have participated and supported our fall sports teams. In many ways, we couldn't do it without you. Thank you for your support.

Basketball tryouts will begin on Monday, October 28th. Students must have a current physical on file in order to tryout.

Report cards were sent home on Friday, October 25th. If you have questions or concerns about your child's progress, please contact your child's teacher.

Makeup picture day will be Friday, November 1st for any student that missed our initial picture day.

Yearbooks are now on sale for $30. Yearbooks may be ordered online at jostensyearbooks.com or by returning the order form to school.

Newton-Conover Middle School will operate under a new “Dress Code” for 2019-2020 school year.

This school year, Newton-Conover Middle School will operate under a new “Dress Code.” Students will no longer be required to wear what stakeholders in the past have referenced as a “uniform.” Instead, just as our elementary and high school students’ dress is governed by a dress code and not by a uniform, so N-CMS will now be. Weekly Announcements

Announcements for the week of September 16th-20th:

Picture Day will be held on Monday, September 16th. Students brought home a picture order form this past week.

On Tuesday, September 17th, our soccer and volleyball teams will be playing at home versus Grandview Middle School. The games will begin at 4 pm.

Our football team will be traveling to Northview on Wednesday, September 18th. Kickoff is at 4:15 pm.

Soccer and volleyball will be back at NCMS on Thursday, September 19th to host Mill Creek. The games will begin at 4 pm.

On Friday, students who have met our Positive Behavior expectations will be allowed to participate in a carnival reward that will take place during the school day.

Progress Reports are scheduled to go home this week. Please contact your student's teachers if you have questions or concerns about their progress.

We want to again thank our family and community supporters for a great start to the school year. We want to thank Nissan of Hickory for providing our staff with lunch this past Friday.

Thank you to the parents that have dropped of doughnuts, frostys, and other items to show support for our staff. If there are any parents or businesses that would like to get involved this year to provide meals, help pay off student lunch accounts, or donate items to the school, please contact our office.

Weekly Announcements

Here are your announcements for the week of September 2nd through September 6th.

We had an excellent first week of school. We would like to thank all the parents, students, and community members that helped to make this first week of school such a success.

Just a reminder that Monday, September 2 is Labor Day. There will be no school for students and staff. Students will return back to school on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Students, this is a reminder that Tuesday, September 3rd is a B Day.

Parents, please make sure that your child is adhering to the new school dress code. Tights of any kind, leggings/jeggings, or yoga pants worn as outerwear are not permitted unless the following criteria are met; The shirt, skirt, or dress worn with tights, leggings/jeggings, or yoga pants must strike the legs at the end of the fingertips; this includes form-fitting sweaters and/or dresses)

Hair curlers, hats, sunglasses, pick/combs, headbands, bandannas, toboggans, do-rags, and other headwear are not permitted to be worn in the building.

Rips or tears above fingertip length are not permitted. Rips or tears in pants/shorts must be below where the fingertips strike the legs (students can wear as long as leggings/tights/yoga pants are worn underneath the rips or tears).

Parents, we appreciate your help with making sure your child is adhering to the Dress Code. You can see more information regarding the dress code on our school website.

All students may eat breakfast for free this year. An application is not required for students to participate.
