Happy Monday Red Devil Family!
We are excited to announce that information regarding online registration for current and new students for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year at Newton-Conover City Schools will go out this week.
Powerschool Enrollment (formerly known as InfoSnap) will send you an email titled, "Newton-Conover City School District- your student's name" to the email address we have on file. This process replaces several forms sent home at the beginning of each school year.
Online registrations for all students will need to be completed before Thursday, August 6th. Your child will not receive his or her schedule, Chromebook, or be eligible to play sports without PowerSchool Enrollment being complete. You can complete early registration within the convenience of your home or complete wherever you have internet access, but we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE you to do this prior to August 6th. This year we are also able to provide a wifi hotspot for students(K-12) who do not have home wifi but you must complete this registration to be eligible. If you do not have internet access, please contact your child’s school to arrange a time to complete the online registration at school. If you have more than one student in the Newton-Conover City School District, then please complete all the online registrations at one time so that you can take advantage of the “sharing” of information between your students.
If you have any questions, please call NCMS at 828-464-4221
Check out the supply list for the 2020-2019 school year.
Good afternoon Red Devil Family.
Here are a couple of announcements for the week of June 1 through June 5.
We want to start by thanking all of our parents and students for your efforts in returning school-owned items last week. With your help, we collected 90% of our Chromebooks, approximately $1,500 in school fees, several uniforms, and a significant amount of library books. A huge thank you to the parents who donated additional monies towards our cafeteria balance. The success of last week would not have been possible without your efforts. Thank you very much.
With that said, we still have folks that need to turn in school-owned items. We also still have an outstanding cafeteria debt of approximately $1,300. If you still need to turn in items, pay off your child's debt, or pick up your student's belongings, you can stop by this week between 8 am- 3:30 pm. Please call the office if you have any questions.
We no longer have yearbooks for sale. We would like to thank the yearbook staff for their hard work in producing one of the best yearbooks we have had in recent years.
If your child is returning to NCMS next year, a class supply list will be shared out in the next couple of weeks. We will post this information on our school website and Facebook page.
That is all for our announcements. Have a wonderful afternoon.
Good afternoon Red Devil Family!
We hope that you are doing well. We want to let you know that the parent/student view of PowerSchool has been taken down to allow teachers to finalize EOY grades and to put in the course grades required by the North Carolina Department of Instruction. May 22 is our last day of instruction. Students will be given an opportunity to turn in missing work next week. We ask that students contact their teacher if they have any questions about missing assignments and deadlines to turn these in.
Parents, Per State Board policy, no end-of-year grades will be given in middle school courses this year due to COVID-19. Students will receive a PC19 or WC19 in each course. PC19 indicates grade-level proficiency. WC19 does not mean the student failed the course and does not imply grade retention. Rather, WC19 indicates a lack of evidence of grade-level proficiency. Rather than grades, we are providing feedback for each student. This feedback will be attached to your child's report card that will be mailed to you in June.
Included with this post is a link to an FAQ document that outlines what you will see as a final grade on your child's report card.
Good afternoon Red Devil Family!
This week marks the last week of remote instruction. Students need to make every effort to complete assignments and finish the school year on a strong note.
Students, we are also looking for your feedback. Please take a moment to complete a quick survey to give us feedback on remote learning. We appreciate your time and input.
