
Good evening, Red Devily Family! Here are your announcements for the week of December 18-22, 2023.
N-CMS will operate on an early release schedule on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Bus riders will be released at 11:00 a.m., followed by car riders and walkers at 11:03 a.m. Parents, please ensure your child has a ride to pick them up by 11:30 a.m.
Parents, we have seen an increase in students, specifically in 8th grade, who are bringing vapes to school. Please speak with your child about the dangers of using a vape. Vapes are prohibited from being on school campuses. Students will receive school consequences for being in possession or using a vape.
Shout out to Mrs. Rogers and the chorus students for putting on an excellent winter concert this past week!
In athletic news,
The boys and girls basketball teams will play at home on Monday against River Bend, while the wrestling team will be away. The teams will be back in action on Tuesday as basketball will play at home against Arndt Middle School while wrestling will be away.

There will be no internet tomorrow while repairs are being done to the service line that feeds into all the schools in our system. This may also affect phones and the ability to call the school. iReady testing, originally scheduled for tomorrow, will be pushed back to Wednesday.

Good evening, Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of December 11-15, 2023.
Students will take their mid-year iReady reading and math assessments on Monday and Tuesday. Please have your child get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast. We want them to try their best as this information helps teachers understand what skills students need support with.
We will have our winter chorus concert on Thursday. Performances will be at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This is free to everyone. Come out and enjoy some great holiday music by our talented young singers.

On Tuesday, the basketball teams will play at home, taking on Grandview, while the wrestling team will be away. The basketball teams will be at Northview on Thursday, while wrestling will be at home.

Laurie Joplin, RT from CVMC joined the 7th grade Health Science classes this week to talk about Respiratory Therapy and the body systems that entails! The students learned about CPR, pulse oximetry, and gas exchange in the alveoli by participating in several activities! Thank you Laurie!





NCMS held their Spelling Bee 🐝 yesterday! 43 students participated from grades 6th, 7th and 8th. We are so proud of all of our super spellers, they worked really hard today!
Alp Sonmez is the NCMS Spelling Bee 🐝 Winner 🏆!
We have 5 students who will move on to the District Spelling Bee in January!




Help us Raise some Dough and buy some Krispy Kreme donuts! Students are bringing home order forms today, they are due back Friday, December 15th (with money). Donuts will be delivered on Wednesday, December 20th.


Good evening, Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of December 4-8, 2023.
I want to let you know that N-CMS was recently notified that the US News and World Report has recognized it as being in the Top 40% of North Carolina Middle Schools!! Additionally, N-CMS received excellent rankings from Niche.com, which reported that we are the #1 middle school in Catawba County. This is the first time N-CMS has received this level of recognition, and we are proud of the staff, students, and community for being part of this achievement.
The Wizard of Oz theatre production has been postponed to January 26-28, 2024. This extra time is needed to ensure we can put on the best show possible. Tickets previously purchased will be valid for the new show dates. Please reach out to Ms. Isaac if you have any questions.
N-CMS will kick off our annual Krispy Kreme fundraiser this week. Information will go home with students. The fundraiser will run for two weeks.
The middle school band will have a concert on Tuesday, December 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium, while our chorus will perform at the Conover Christmas in the Park event at 6 p.m.
N-CHS Community Christmas Lunch which will be held at Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in downtown Newton on Saturday, December 16th. Santa will be on hand to pass out small gifts to children 12 and under. Everything is free, and all are welcome! This will be N-CHS's 12th year holding the event.

The wrestling team will have a match at home on Tuesday against Mill Creek, while basketball will be away. On Thursday, the basketball team will play at home while wrestling is away.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We want to thank our parents who provided food for our staff Thanksgiving Feast. We are blessed to have such wonderful community members who care and support our school family. Thank you again for everything you do for us.
This is a reminder to students to submit missing/late assignments from the first half of the second quarter by November 29, 2023. Please reach out to your child’s teachers if you have any questions.
The book fair is this week. Students will have the opportunity to visit the fair and purchase items.

Our winter sports season officially begins this week. The wrestling team will be away on Tuesday at Arndt, while the girls' and boys' basketball teams will play at home. On Thursday, the basketball teams will play at home against Maiden, while wrestling will be away. Games and matches start at 4 p.m. The Price of admission is $5.

Mrs. Rogers has been selected for a 2023-24 J. Don Coleman Education Fund grant from the Hickory Choral Society. As a result, she has earned $500 to use to purchase music for our school! We are super proud of Mrs. Rogers and her dedication to the coral program and helping our students grown their love of music.


This is just a reminder that we will NOT be having OZ rehearsals this Wednesday or Thursday due to Ms. Isaac being in Elf: the Musical! If you are buying your own costumes- Costumes for Cast A will be due Wednesday, November 29 and Cast B will be due Thursday, November 30.

Good afternoon parents.
Unfortunately, we have a lot of sickness and flu going around our school. This has caused an abundunce of students and staff get sick and we have had to send a higher than usual amount of students home.
To help slow the spread, students should stay home if they have a fever, vomiting, or have to take medications to fight against symptoms to make it through the school day. Students should be symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
Thank you for your help in slowing the spread of sickness.

Good evening, Red Devil Family! Here are your announcements for the week of November 13-17, 2023.
We want to congratulate all the students who qualified for our 1st quarter academic reward trip to Skateland. Students worked hard to qualify for the reward, and we enjoyed seeing them get to spend some free time outside of class. We look forward to continuing to celebrate student academic success throughout the year.
Progress reports go home this Friday. Parents, please contact your child’s teachers should you have questions about their academic progress. Students must submit missing assignments from the first half of Q2 by November 29th.
Our theatre program will be putting on performances of the “Wizard of Oz” on December 15-17, 2023. Tickets will go on sale starting November 27, 2023 for $10. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the main office or by sending in money with your child. Tickets will be sold at the door for each performance.

There is a required Winter Sports meeting in the gym on Monday, November 13, 2023, at 5:30 p.m..
