Here are your announcements for the week of August 24-28, 2026.
Welcome back! We are excited to kick off the 2026–2027 school year. Thank you to everyone who attended our parent information meeting and Open House last week—we had a fantastic turnout! A special welcome to all of our new students and incoming 6th graders joining the Red Devil family. Monday, August 24 is the first day of school.
Arrival & Drop-Off Safety
Doors Open: 7:10 a.m. | School Starts: 7:40 a.m.
Safety Reminder: Please do not drop students off before 7:10 a.m., as staff supervision is not available prior to that time.
Please avoid parking to walk your child into the building, as this creates a safety hazard in the drop-off line.
School Dismissal: School dismisses at 2:50 p.m. Car riders must be picked up no later than 3:30 p.m.
Sign Outs: There are no student sign-outs past 2:30 p.m.
Bus Transportation
Please have your student at their bus stop early during the first few days of school. Many pickup routes begin around 6:15 a.m.
Buses may run late initially as routes are ironed out—thank you for your patience with our drivers!
School administration will visit each classroom on Monday to review bus information and confirm how every student is getting home.
Athletics
Cross Country Tryouts: Monday & Tuesday. Students trying out should meet Mr. Earp at the front picnic tables.
Boys Soccer Tryouts: August 24, 25, and 26 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Clubs & Activities
Yearbook Club: Interested 8th-grade students can pick up an application from Mrs. Reese in Room 110 during homeroom.
Fantasy Football Club: Open to all grade levels! Stop by Mr. Caldwell's room (Room 212) to pick up a permission slip. Completed permission slips are required to join.
Parents, Reminder: Tomorrow is Open House at N-CMS from 3:00–6:00 p.m.!

New to N-CMS? Join our optional Parent Meeting at 2:00 PM in the Auditorium to learn about school operations and expectations. Doors open at 1:50 PM.

On Thursday, August 20, our 6th grade teachers will host our optional Kick Start event for incoming 6th graders.
Who: Incoming 6th graders only (Students only).
Drop-off: Car rider line starting at 8:15 AM.
Pick-up: Car rider line at 11:00 AM.
Practice is 6:00–8:00 PM. Come be part of the Red Devil family!
Parents, if you haven't already done so, please complete the online student registration. Registration is now open for all returning students (those who finished the previous school year enrolled with Newton-Conover City Schools).
To ensure your child is ready for the first day of school, please log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal (https://182.ncsis.gov/campus/portal/parents/psu182newton.jsp) and complete the Returning Student Registration for each returning student in your household no later than August 14, 2026.
If you've forgotten your username or password, don't worry—an email with your login information was sent to the email address you used last year to register your child. You may also contact our Data Manager if you need further assistance.
New students should go to https://www.newton-conover.org/.../enrolling-in-newton... and click on New Student Enrollment.
Returning and New Student registration HAS TO BE COMPLETED before students can receive their schedule at Open House, participate in athletics, or receive their Chromebook.

As we get closer to the start of the school year and back-to-school shopping is underway, we wanted to share a few important reminders about our expectations for student cell phones/headphones, dress standards, and water bottles.
Please take a few minutes to review the attached flyers before the first day of school. These guidelines will help ensure a smooth start to the year.
