Dear Red Devil Family. It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Jeff Brotherton, CTE teacher at NCMS, passed away late Saturday into Sunday morning.
Mr. Brotherton was a wonderful teacher, father, husband, and human being. He often filled in to be a substitute bus driver, helped coach football, and would do anything and everything to help our school community. He was a proud member of our Red Devil family. Our condolences go out to his family and anyone impacted by his passing.
Experiencing loss at any age is tough to navigate, and we at NCMS understand that our middle school students may experience a range of emotions over the next few days as they process this news. We will have counselors available tomorrow to speak with students needing comfort or grief support. Should your child need to talk with someone, please encourage them to communicate this need to their teachers. While dealing with loss is never easy, we want to support our students the best that we can.
If there is anything we can do for your student as we navigate the road ahead, please reach out and contact the school.
That is all for this announcement. Our regular weekly update call will go out at 5 pm today.
Pack the Devils’ Den Student Section for 8th Grade Night! All Silver and Gold card holders get in free. All others can attend for only $2 if you bring in 3 canned goods/dry food.

This week’s “Da Bomb” recipient chosen by Mrs. Witmore is Mrs. Amy Jackson. (EC Teacher)
My choice for ‘Da Bomb’ award is Amy Jackson. Mrs. Jackson has done an amazing job jumping into a new grade level this year, and she is an amazing team player who is willing to help in any way. She is always willing to help our kids, both in the classroom and on Zoom. She truly wants them to succeed and has their best interests in mind. We are lucky to have Mrs. Jackson in 8th grade, and I’m lucky to be able to share my classroom with her! For these reasons, I have selected Mrs. Jackson as this week’s “Da Bomb!”
Thank you, and Congratulations, Mrs. Jackson, You Are “Da BOMB!”
